Defendant Sentenced to Prison for Human Trafficking of Minor
DATE: January 29, 2021
CASE: Franklin Stowers (Case #20FE010192)
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Courtney Martin, Human Trafficking Unit
The Honorable Patrick Marlette sentenced Franklin Stowers to 5 years in prison after Stowers pled to human trafficking of a minor.
Stowers ran a profile of the 14-year-old victim on websites dedicated to advertising commercial sex. He would then collect the money the victim made for performing sex acts. He also provided transportation to the victim in order to facilitate acts of commercial sex. Text message conversations between Stowers and the victim revealed that he gave her directions and encouraged her to engage in acts of prostitution.
