PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Matt Chisholm, Homicide Unit
Maurice Vale was convicted by a jury of the first-degree murder of Trevor Solari. The jury found true the special circumstance that Vale committed the murder during the commission of a robbery and the allegation that he personally used a firearm causing death. Vale was also convicted of residential robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On August 4, 2018, Vale robbed the victim while inside of his friend’s apartment. During the robbery, a brief struggle ensued and Vale shot the victim in the chest before fleeing the scene. The victim died within moments. Approximately 10 months before the murder, Vale had been released from prison on parole after serving 22 years for attempted murder, kidnapping and other crimes in 1996.
Vale faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Sentencing is set for August 20, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 1 before the Honorable Kevin McCormick.
